Color Blindness
Color blindness is a common, usually genetic, condition that affects how individuals perceive colors, though it rarely limits daily activities.
Overview
Most of us see our world in color. If you have a color vision defect, you may see colors differently than most people.
Types of Color Vision Defects
There are three main kinds of color vision defects:
- Red-green color vision defects: The most common type, occurring in men more than in women.
- Blue-yellow color vision defects.
- Complete absence of color vision.
Diagnosis and Management
Most of the time, color blindness is genetic. There is no treatment, but most people adjust and the condition doesn't limit their activities.
